Aracné

Original Woodcut Print

Aracné

This engraving, inspired by the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, explores the concept of Buddhi, understood as the intelligence that transcends rational mind—intuition that provides guidance in the battle of life, filled with spiritual discernment.

In the myth, when Theseus (ego) is sent to the labyrinth prison, awaiting his encounter with the Minotaur (lower nature), Ariadne (Buddhi) decides to help him and gives him two tools: a sword and a ball of thread.

The depiction of Ariadne as a spider is inspired by her role in providing the thread to Theseus so he can find his way back from the Minotaur’s labyrinth. It also alludes to the development of our instinctive and spiritual intelligence, prompting us to reflect on how we weave our own path with it.
