Ivette Rojo
“Through figurative painting, I explore memory, water, and poetic resistance.”
Ivette Rojo is a Mexican visual artist living and working between Portugal and Spain. Her practice centers on painting as a space of transformation, where figuration, symbolism, and material processes converge to explore memory, nature, and the ways we inhabit the world.
Working primarily with oil, watercolor, and printmaking and more recently incorporating embroidery on paper, her work understands the image as a threshold between the visible and the intangible. Water, the body, and symbolic forms appear as recurring elements, inviting contemplation, vulnerability, and participation from the viewer.
Rooted in a transnational experience, her artistic language is shaped by migration, ritual, and poetic resistance. Through her practice, Ivette conceives art as a form of visual thought: a way of questioning dominant narratives and imagining more sensitive, interconnected ways of being.
